IRENE MOSKOWITZ
Founding Teacher

Capital resident, one-time campaigner, creative consultant by day, crossworder by night, Irene is thrilled to add Founding Teacher at Ment to this (no longer alliterative) list.
Irene was a casual yogi on and off through the years—attending classes here and there but never really *getting* what so many people loved about it.
That all changed when her friend Julia brought her to Joan Wadopian’s Vinyasa 1 class at Flow Yoga Center in Washington, D.C. during a particularly stressful period at work. After leaving class, Irene felt like a different person—or rather, the most serene version of herself.
For Irene, yoga is about community—and that’s what she loves about the premise and promise of MENT. She has met some of my closest friends through yoga. And she feels privileged to have the opportunity to practice regularly and to have been able to invest in Yoga Teacher Training, something not everyone does—which is why MENT's mission to give back and make classes more accessible is so important to her.
A long-time yogi, Irene completed Mimi Rieger’s 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training. Rooted in Mimi’s Power Yoga style, the training exposed her to master teachers in traditions like Ashtanga, Rocket, Budokon, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Yin and Restorative, with a grounding in yoga history and philosophy as well as intelligent sequencing. Her own Vinyasa teaching style incorporates playfulness, compassion, humor and creative sequencing with some elements of dance and Budokon and a decent amount of sweat thrown in—with a focus on learning from her students.
All bodies and all levels are welcome. The hardest part is showing up.
Off the mat, Irene likes musical theater and exploring new places. Ask her about Zumba!
